Cub-related Rants and Raves

3.5.04

Well the Cubs salvaged a split in St. Louis, and come home with a 3-4 road trip. Maddux pitched a great game, going 7 innings, 7 hits, 2 ER, 0 BB, and 6 Ks. He was also 1-2 with an infield hit 2 runs scored, and a stolen base. Yes, you read right, a stolen base! Fun fact for the day: Greg Maddux is the all-time leader among active pitchers in stolen bases. How many you ask? A whopping 6! Todd Walker, Derrek Lee and Sammy Sosa all hit 2-run homers in this game, as well.

Today's Daily Suck: Once again, our friend Alex Gonzalez. While he wasn't hitless (he had a 2-bagger) he made a terrible baserunning blunder that probably cost the Cubs a run, and also made an error in the field. Mental error + psyical error= Daily Suck. Thanks, pal.

Today's King of the Diamond: Greg Maddux, of course. The man can do it all, run hit and pitch. 9 wins away from 300. The Next Year is Here countdown officialy begins now.
